Game 3: Closers

Category: 2008,pre-game,Three Seashells – Author: miles – 7:30 pm

When Wednesday night rolls around again, The Shells are taking on Closers. I couldn’t find any history of Closers on the Bulletin Board archives or in any of the galleries over the last few years but they do sound familiar. Anybody remember playing them?

The weather looks partly sunny with a temperature in the 60s so we should be good to play. Instead of my still camera, I’m bringing a video camera for the first time since the Dusty Diamonds season. Won’t it be interesting to see how we’ve each developed as hitters in the span of a few years?

Game time is 7:55 and after-party is at Paddy Mac’s who should sponsor us but the guy who makes decisions is never there. Nevertheless, the bar food is beyond good and prices are stellar.

Game 2: vs. Ski Unit 8:45

Alright, game two. well, game one, take two.

The weather has been bad all morning but it’s supposed to clear up by lunchtime and be beautiful for the rest of the day. I believe we have a full crew tonight, for what is now the season opener.

I’m sure we’ll be a little rusty as only Eve, Christine, Lee and Don have been playing thus far with other leagues. As long as we don’t fall behind early and field reasonably well, there’s no reason we can’t come into the season with a win.

Here’s a tentative starting lineup later. :D .

Game 1: Team Benveniste

Game One of the Skokie Summer Softball season is scheduled for today. The Three Seashells game starts at 9:30, weather permitting. Of course, it appears the weather will not permit the teams to play. It’s a shame that yesterday’s beautiful 80 degree evening was wasted on a non-game night. (more…)
